When I graduated college, I saw myself teaching for the rest of my life. Over the next 25 years, from Virginia to DC to Georgia to South Carolina, I taught elementary school, ranging from second to fifth grade. As I grew as an educator, I started to combine my life-long love of reading and my classroom culture. I made it a priority to encourage independent reading with every child, read alouds were an integral part of every day, and I constantly looked for new ways to develop critical readers.
Then, in 2024, things changed. Events occurred beyond my control, challenging my thinking and illuminating new priorities. It was time to step back from teaching and reassess. It was certainly an adjustment. To be honest, I mourned teaching. I missed my students, engaging in conversations around learning and life. I found comfort in my own reading, exploring independent authors, writing reviews on Instagram, and exploring part time jobs to occupy my time.
During this time, I began working as an assistant to an author. I started out helping with communication and planning, then slowly started to support the author through their social media accounts. That is when I discovered my love of literature and educating others had a new purpose - connecting authors through social media. This plot twist in my life gave birth to my new career - Plot Twist Consulting. Since then, through word of mouth and local events, my client base continues to grow. I look forward to making you part of my journey.
